I’m a summer gal. I love hot days, starry nights, BBQs, my pool, concerts in the park, shorts and tanks and flipflops, biking and hiking, long days, working in my garden, Fourth of July, and fireflies.

But this week, I saw this… Autumn colors.

And this… summer flowers ending their run.

My beloved pet moving more slowly, more stiffly…

All the bedrooms are for guests because our sons have moved away…

The neighborhood is quiet, because most of the kids are grown and gone….
It’s only August 17th, but it feels like summer, and another era, is over.
To borrow loosely from Shakespeare’s Richard III and George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones: Winter, the season of our discontent, is coming.
On that maudlin note, I’m going to find a movie or book to lose myself in. And you can bet it won’t be about autumn. I think Jaws is on….
