I was weeding the garden, one of my happy places, thinking about my cousin who was coming for a visit. Once she arrived, we’d be talking, playing games, hanging poolside, having fun.
What the….
The previous week I ripped out some ground cover because it was taking over the garden, and I wanted a sapling to grow. The ground cover would have strangled it. After pulling out a few weeds, I picked this out of the dirt.

It’s not a Christmas ornament because there’s a small hook on the back, like it’s meant to hang on the wall or something.
The Question Is…
Did someone put it on the house to bless it… or as a token of protection? Was there something that people, or children (since it depicts a child), need protection from?
I think I’m going to go with it being a blessing, like the way people put statues of patron saints or horseshoes.
Thinking of the alternative (something scary) brings up movies like Poltergeist or The Amityville Horror or The Haunting. Yup, nope, don’t want to think of that.
There’s no way to find and question the former owners so it’s a mystery that will never be solved. Tell me what YOU think the story could be.
