Earthrise, by Astronaut William Anders, Apollo 8, 1968

Is there anyone out there that hasn’t been following the Artemis II mission? Four astronauts doing an orbit around the moon, showing the world views and images that have never been seen by any human?

With all the strife, uncertainty, suffering, and worries, watching the skilled crew of Artemis II was a moment of tranquil joy. Seeing crew members: Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialist Christina Koch, and Canadian Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen as they worked, remembered lost loved ones, and chronicled their discoveries was an uplift we, and the world, needed.

art002e009288 (April 6, 2026) – Earthset captured through the Orion spacecraft window at 6:41 p.m. EDT, April 6, 2026, during the Artemis II crew’s flyby of the Moon. A muted blue Earth with bright white clouds sets behind the cratered lunar surface.
The dark portion of Earth is experiencing nighttime. On Earth’s day side, swirling clouds are visible over the Australia and Oceania region.
In the foreground, Ohm crater has terraced edges and a flat floor interrupted by central peaks. Central peaks form in complex craters when the lunar surface, liquefied on impact, splashes upwards during the crater’s formation.

Want MORE Awesomeness?

In fact, go to https://nasa.gov and treat yourself to images, podcasts, lectures, articles, interviews, ebooks, games (yes, games!), and so much more. They post so much content, you could spend HOURS browsing through it. (And yes, I have. They are a fantastic resource if you write science fiction but want REAL science in your fiction.)

As a side note, my dad worked on the Lunar Module at Grumman’s, which led the way to the moon landing in 1969. (If you’re a denier, there’s no room for you here; only people who understand and accept SCIENCE and HISTORY. Peddle your nonsense elsewhere). So NASA was a big part of my childhood, and I’m still a HUGE fan today. Just seeing the strides we’re making in space exploration, the innovations that trickle down to everyday use, the images of planets and the universe-it’s all just breathtaking and amazing and awesome. I put my and my dad’s names on a list which traveled to the sun on the Parker Solar Probe (2018). NASA lets you do cool stuff like that. I’ll never get into space, but my name was out there….

They’re on social media and have NASA live! Also, check out Secrets of the Universe on Instagram which shares scientific facts, discoveries, and myths about the universe. They post things that will blow your mind (but only if you’re open to science.)

My sci fi novel is not ready to submit, so I ardently follow all space and science achievements in case I need to incorporate new discoveries in my story. In the meantime, I’m editing my holiday romance, Christmas Bells, Hanukkah Lights to be published by Wild Rose Press (hopefully) before the holidays, and promoting my Arthurian time-travel fantasy, The Excalibur Vow available through Barnes & Noble, Walmart, Amazon, and Waterstones (buy links on the book page).
