Let’s take a break from writing and how hard the author’s life is and begging for reviews (but please leave a review if you can!)
What Are They Thinking?

Shoelaces. Every pair of shoes has laces that are ridiculously long. Waaaaay too long. Why? Am I supposed to have feet that big that I need the extra length? That would mean my feet wouldn’t fit in the shoes… These laces can be cut by one third and be the perfect length. Now I know why everyone’s going to slip-in Sketchers; who wants to deal with double knotting these things. And even if you tuck them in, they still pull out. Sheesh.
Top ‘o the Mornin’ to Ya!

Remember that commercial with Jason Mamoa? If I remember correctly, this actor of Hawaiian, Pawnee, and German descent holds up a test result, goes running into a pub and yells, “I’m Irish!” Someone asks how much, he replies, “2%!” The person scoffs, but everyone else, people of various colors and backgrounds, cheer that he’s Irish and they celebrate with a pint. That’s what I love about the Irish. They want to share their culture with everyone; all are welcome. (His biography lists Irish ancestry.) Wish we could all celebrate everyone’s culture with such joy and no ‘mine, mine, mine’.
No, I’m Good…

Ever notice that no one really likes to eat/drink the last little bit of food? Like there’s 1/8th inch of milk in the bottom of the container, but no one wants to drink it. Or a small plastic container of mashed potatoes. It’ll sit in the fridge until someone eats it (doubtful) or it gets thrown away. Or is that just me?
That’s Not Happening

I saw an interesting book in the library (currently into werewolves, so if you have a good suggestion, let me know). It was the first in the series (I love a good series!) so I borrowed the first and the second. Snuggled in bed, I read two pages and knew I wasn’t going to finish the book. It’s not that the writing was poor, but the author’s style was irritating. Short, choppy sentences with blocks of dialogue and no action. What, so the two characters are standing there, talking, and no one moves a muscle? Don’t exhibit any facial expressions? Yes, short sentences can imply tension, but the dialogue didn’t. Sorry Author Person, but I’m not wasting my time reading books I don’t enjoy. Life is too short, there are too many good books out there, and I’m not your audience. It’s okay to move on, you don’t owe anyone your time.
Eye See You

I was doom scrolling on Instagram when I came across a video that discussed “Irish Eyes.” (You can learn a lot from Instagram.) Ireland has been invaded a number of times over history, and each invader left their DNA through offspring. The result, over 10,000 years and a major mutation, was varying eye colors. There are not only green or blue eyes, but also combinations of gray-green, green or blue with a ring of gold, pale green with gold around the pupil, blue rimmed around green around gold. Fascinating… so look for those smiling Irish eyes in my next book.
Until next week, Happy St. Patrick’s Day, hope all are safe through the nasty weather across the country, prayers for peace, and enjoy the tree and hyacinth buds.
And, Of Course…
Please leave a review if you’ve read The Excalibur Vow or suggest a podcaster who might be interested in having me as a guest.
