Not subscribers, but summer. You see, I’m a summer gal. I live for working in my garden, swimming in my pool, hiking and biking, warm summer nights, outdoor concerts, BBQ’s with friends and family, vacations, the smell of fresh herbs, ice cream! and the occasional tequila sunrise.

But this is what I have now:

My pool is closed.

My fountain is turned off.

The grasses and gardens are dying.

Dead leaves litter everywhere.

I find the end of summer… sad.

But then I found this:

My Butterfly bush has more blooms.

I found a bee sleeping in my celosia.

My geraniums have rebounded from the heat and drought (and so have the weeds).

I know the flowers will die when the cold comes. The bees will go into hibernation. Trees will be bare, days will be gray, and winter will come.

Sigh.

But there will be mid-winter vacations to tropical beaches, cozy days in front of the fire with a good book (or editing my own), and holiday get-togethers.

Yin and yang. Hot and cold. Long nights, short days and short nights, long days. Balance.
